    What is the Optimux-XLE1?
    The Optimux-XLE1 is a device for multiplexing Ethernet and/or E1 connections over a single E3 (34 Mbps) link.

    What makes the Optimux-XLE1 important in the satellite environment?
    The Optimux-XLE1 can multiplex up to four Ethernet links over a G.703 satellite link operating at 34 Mbps (E3). An application of growing importance is web server mirroring via satellite. This reduces repetitive access to popular web sites via overloaded Internet backbones, improving web site response time and performance. The Optimux-XLE1 can be used to connect web servers via Ethernet over satellite links without wasting bandwidth and without the need for handshaking or router configuration.

    How does the Optimux-XLE1 work in the satellite environment?
    To extend the web server Ethernet port, an Optimux-XLE1 with up to four Ethernet ports is located at each end of the 34 Mbps satellite link. Each Optimux-XLE1 is connected to the G.703 port of the satellite receiver. Web servers can be connected to each of the four Ethernet ports on the Optimux-XLE1, either directly or via an Ethernet switch/hub.
