RAD has deployed solutions for TETRA applications in Europe and the Far East and is a preferred partner and interoperable with major TETRA vendors. “RAD brings a number of key advantages to TETRA operators and customers, including industry-leading experience in cross-generation migration requirements and resilient PDH, SDH and Ethernet ring applications,” states Kobi Gol, Product Line Manager at RAD Data Communications. “Moreover, RAD’s broad portfolio of solutions can be deployed to transport all TETRA applications over any infrastructure, whether it be copper, fiber or even wireless.” Cross-generation interoperability greatly benefits TETRA applications because it guarantees the flexibility and reliability that are required to run TDM traffic over IP and vice versa. “RAD’s access devices offer a future-proof migration path,” explains Gol, “because they don’t have to be replaced down the line in the future if and when base stations are upgraded or an IP node is added along the TDM network.” These and other RAD solutions are modular in design, which allows them to be scalable. “System integrators prefer such solutions because they allow customers to pay as they grow and pay only for what they need,” Gol concludes. Scalable solutions are also compatible with TEDS (TETRA Enhanced Data Services), part of TETRA release 2, which is designed to yield higher data rates and meet the need for faster data services.
