RAD and 23 Other Leading Vendors Successfully Demonstrate Carrier Ethernet Interoperability at EANTC Testing Event
Results Provide Proof-of-Concept for Latest Generation of Solutions
September 22, 2009 – RAD Data Communications was one of 24 telecom vendors to successfully participate in the latest interoperability event organized by the European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC AG). The showcase network, which includes more than 110 devices, is being presented live from September 22 to 24 at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress 2009 in Berlin.
Focused on mobile backhaul, managed Ethernet services and global interconnect, the showcase network was hot staged over the first two weeks in September by 60 engineers from EANTC and the participating vendors.
The test provides a proof-of-concept study for network operators investigating the latest generation of Carrier Ethernet solutions. Ethernet technology has successfully begun to extend to such areas as ENNI and LTE backhaul as well as wireless media, while integrating deployments such as advanced end-to-end, multi-vendor fault management. At the same time, the technology has further matured, for example with regards to IEEE1588:2008 packet-based clock synchronization and Synchronous Ethernet interoperability. Service provider transport technologies for Carrier Ethernet services, including MPLS, PBB-TE and pre-standard MPLS-TP, were also successfully tested.
Now in its fifth year, the Carrier Ethernet World Congress (CEWC) is firmly established as the world’s foremost public event to validate the interoperability of product innovations in the field of Carrier Ethernet, actually producing unbiased, verified hands-on results.
Apart from RAD, the other participating vendors included Agilent Technologies, Albis Technologies, Alcatel-Lucent, Calnex Solutions, Ceragon Networks, Ciena, Cisco, ECI Telecom, Ericsson, Ethos Networks, Harris Stratex Networks, Huawei Technologies, Ixia, JDSU, MRV Communications, NEC Corporation, Nokia Siemens Networks, SIAE Microelettronica, Siklu, Spirent Communications, Symmetricom, Tejas Networks, and Telco Systems, a BATM company.
